Adidas sports eyewear
by Jayne Rhodie FBDO Dispensing Optician
I have dispensed and sold sports eyewear for many years and in my opinion, Adidas offer a good range of frames for sport protection.
The frames are versatile as many have adjustable nose pieces and sides to maximise comfort and fit. The LST tints that Adidas use offer great vision for contrast and varying light.
The Tour Pro has an eye shape that gives maximum field of vision and with contrast lenses it’s great to use with greens and undulating landscapes, making it an ideal golf sunglass, but I can’t guarantee it will improve your handicap! The eye shape gives maximum field of vision.
Adidas frames are great for prescription use as well. The frames can be used with prescription inserts, where the prescription sits in a rim behind the non prescription frame. Using an insert gives versatility as Adidas frames come with quick change lenses allowing an easy change when the sun goes in or it goes darker. (Bearing in mind we live in Britain this can happen a lot!!). The insert also gives contact lenses both prescription and non prescription in one pair because the insert is removable.
For prescription wearers who don’t like the idea of the insert, many of the Adidas frames can have lenses directly glazed by using an adapter to replace the non prescription lens. This makes the frames look like non prescription sports eyewear and lenses can be polarised, non polarised, clear, contrast tints or transition lenses.
