Dry Eye Relief.
Dry eye is a common condition that seems to be on the rise and dry eye relief can be a bit of a minefield.
Our day to day lives seem to bombard our eyes with challenges and it can be a daily battle to gain relief from itchy, burning and watery eyes. Dry eye can occur when the quality of your tears is compromised and the surface of the eye is not adequately lubricated. Good quality tears are vital to sustain clear vision and comfort throughout the day.
IF THE TEAR FILM IS UNSTABLE, THE IMAGE QUALITY PROJECTED ON THE RETINA CAN BE SIGNIFICANTLY IMPAIRED
Computer screens, including phones and tablets , air conditioning, central heating and allergens can all play a part in dry eye discomfort and life can be pretty miserable if you are a sufferer.
Here at David H Myers Opticians we strive to bring our patients the best advice and products when it comes to dry eye relief.
With so many dry eye products on the market we have searched far and wide to find a range that has something for everyone.
Scope Ophthalmics seem to have nailed it when it comes to innovative dry eye products and we are proud to stock their range which is constantly evolving.
When it comes to treating dry eye this 3 step regime can really help.
OPTASE™ Moist Heat Mask
Using a heat mask on your eyes can be effective in treating dry eye, blepharitis and meibomian gland dysfunction.
HydroBead™ Technology absorbs moisture from the air and releases a natural, constant moist heat. This loosens the oils in the meibomian glands and allows the oils to flow more easily. It will also help to soften eyelash debris.
Just pop your mask in the microwave for 25 seconds and apply to your eyes for 10 minutes. This moist heat will prevent your natural tear film from evaporating and restore moisture to your eye. It’s also a good excuse to have 10 minutes down time!
OPTASE™ TTO Lid Wipes
These refreshing lid wipes contain a unique formula of tea tree oil and hyaluronic acid. Known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, tea tree oil is the perfect ingredient to soothe lids and clean softened debris away from the lashes. Hyaluronic acid helps to moisturise the lids, whilst the Chamomile and Aloe Vera further soothes and hydrates.
We have chosen 3 Hycosan products that we think deliver everything our patients need when it comes to relieving dry eyes. There are more Hycosan products available but we like to keep things simple here!
Hycosan Original (the blue one) is great for mild to moderate dry eye and is the perfect product to start with. If you find day to day tasks such as driving and reading are affected-try this product first.
Hycosan Extra (the red one) is perfect for tackling more severe dry eye. If you have tried other Hycosan products and found no relief, this would be the next go-to product for you. Hycosan Extra is more viscous and contains more sodium hyaluronate.
Hycosan Dual (the purple one) is great news if you are a hay fever sufferer. Hycosan Dual protects your eye from allergens. Sodium hyaluronate and ectoin (often described as the natural anti-stress molecule) is perfect for allergy related dry eye and lipid deficiency.
All of the Hycosan drops are preservative free and thanks to an innovative COMOD system (COntinuous MOno Dose) each bottle lasts 6 months after opening.
One drop per click ensures that you don’t waste any drops as the click lets you know that a drop has been dispensed.
A high DHA Omega-3 Supplement to help maintain healthy vision. Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids are essential to maintain good health. Western diets tend to have a higher rate of Omega-6 so it’s important to get the balance right.
Take 2 softgels with food once a day to obtain the recommended daily dose .
You’ll be glad to know there is no horrible fishy aftertaste with OPTASE Softgels!!
Great news for contact lens wearers too!
All of the Hycosan range is safe to use with your contact lenses!
