CHECT Scavenger hunt 2011

On Sunday 16th October 2011 teams from David H Myers Opticians, including David himself took part in a charity scavenger hunt. Over 30 walkers, made up of staff from the practices, friends and family, competed in this event in Cumbria. Scavenger hunts have been around for a while and you may well have heard of them. The challenge was to complete all the alloted tasks within a set time.
The reason we undertook this challenge was to raise money for the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT). As opticians this is a charity that is close to our hearts. When a child is diagnosed with cancer it feels like the family’s world has collapsed. The effect on family & friends is profound. During this time families are helped & supported by CHECT. This charity specializes in retinoblastoma (a fast growing eye cancer of early childhood). Retinoblastoma almost always develops before 5 years of age, and some children are born with the cancer. CHECT has been a registered charity since 1987 and was formerly known as The Retinoblastoma Society, it is funded solely through donations.
Please help us to raise as much money as possible to ensure this charity can continue to support all those affected by this illness. Thank you for your support…. every penny counts!
